I am glad to hear she is authentic!Post pics after the downey dunk!
This link was so fun to read. I came in late in the game so the problem was solved by the time I got to the end. How very sweet of everyone to care and want to help. The updates were great for those of us reading after the fact. It was like a story.
So very glad she is a real AG girl. Enjoy your new doll. The downy dunk will do wonders for her.

Here is the link on my site for future reference on a side by side comparison of a Clone Lindsey V's an Authentic Lindsey. I am not done adding pics yet, but will do that later this next week. Still, you can see clear shots of her freckles and such.. There are also pics of my Clone Kirsten on this page.. Here is the link..

In my opinion, these dolls are no longer in production and the ones that were sold years ago are the ones that are now floating around. I say this for several reasons.. 1 - they were totally filthy when I got them, yet they had not been 'played with' because their hair was not all that bad like it would have been if a child had played with them.. i.e. Kirstens braids are still in their original set and Lindsey's hair, although totally amust, was still in it's original set as well. 2 - there has been no new clone dolls put out since Lindsey ... no Kailey no new ones at all since '91.. 3 - the eyes are all Pre Mattel eyes ... 4 - you dont see enough of them on the 2ndary market to even suggest that they are still in production. If they were still being made, we would be seeing them much more frequently all over the internet, not just on on eBay, just like we do that knock off Louis Vuitton bags, which is a MUCH larger money maker than these clone dolls were. And 5 - Everyone I know that has one got one from someone who bought them a long time ago.. sure they could be lieing about that, but I know that the lady I got my two from is in her late 50's early 60's and sells vintage Fenton glass (she gets at auction houses) then she puts it up on eBay.. she got these dolls at a public auction one weekend. I got them from her for a song after she ended the auctions because she got some super hateful emails from a couple people here.
Thanks for the link and the pictures.
Wow. She's actually very pretty. The pictures in the auction did not do her justice. And she's very close to a real Lindsey in looks.
GillyGals, you mention that on your clones page, the two Lindseys have tags that look the same. The closeup of the tag on the fake Lindsey looks like is says "American Gril" rather than "Girl"... does the authentic tag just have a misprint or is the misprint just on the clone? just wondering.
My 100% authentic Lindsey (that does not mean pretty or loved, mind you!) has a "gril" tag on her.
The story goes that there was a whole batch of them made by AG with the typo, and that they corrrected it later. So the "gril" Lindseys are the older ones.
You've got to give it to the fakers!!! they even copied AGs mistakes!!!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Here again is the picture for you... Just as the picture states, this is a picture of my clone Lindsey's tag. The tag has Gril on it.. just like the 1st run Authentic Lindsey tags say. The written description on my site covers this oddity with the tags on both the clone and the authentic Lindsey dolls.Originally posted by Felicity_Fan85:

In all honesty, these tags and bodies on the clones are most likely stolen. These tags are ribbon tags that are rolled on large spools in the factory.. Heavens only knows how many tags are on one spool. All it took was for one person to steal one spool of tags.. there are HUNDREDS of them on one. The person I talked to at AG said that they are the real tags and that the only way that she could figure that they made their way onto these fake dolls is that they were stolen from a factory over in China or that the unstuffed bodies with no limbs were stolen. The latter of the two makes more sense to me as the bodies are from the same fabrics and are the EXACT same size as well as patterns used. Common sense thinking says that if they knocked off the faces and THEY turned out smaller and of lower quality material, then it would make sense that the bodies would also be 'off' and not of the same quality in some sort of way as well.
The molds, are suspected to have been created from an original AG doll, which would explain the smaller size of the faces on the clones as well as the harder plastic that they are made from. Various plastics and vinyls react differently when pulled from their molds.. most usually they shrink.. thus explaining the smaller faces on the clones. It is logical and just makes sense if you think about it.
I have two outfits that were on my dolls. They were stolen.. they are not fakes.. they do not have tags.. I compaired them to the originals I have.. there is absolutely no difference what so ever. This same person at AG told me that those fabrics were created expressly for AG ... she authenticated them after seeing my site and again, she said that they are most likely just stolen and then made their way to the black market with the dolls. The dresses I have are Felicity's work dress, cap and shawl and Addy's Christmas dress. The Christmas dress has FARRRRR too many details to have been copied so closely and that is what was told to me.
Here is alink to my pictures of the clones I have.. http://www.gillygals.com/clones.htm
Cheers,
Angie

The statement about there being no clones made recently doesn't explain the fake Kits, or the fact that products made in China are notorious for being copied.
